It really blows my mind that people made that argument when MGMT released Congratulations. It strikes as a completely accessible album. I do like Congratulations, but I also just think it was that far off the beaten path. It was a well crafted album with good songs. Just because it didn’t have a “Kids” on it didn’t make me feel like oh shit MGMT is just relaxing obscure dissonance now.
I just mean as opposed to predictions because D'Angelo and Oasis are closer to none than slim. Is George Clinton retired yet or still on his farewell tour? Either way I don't see it being them. Wu-Tang would be fun.
Speaking of which it's interesting to see Taco seemingly billed as a higher act then some of the other guys. Is that mostly because he is closest buddies with Tyler or is he marginally more relevant than guys like left brain and domo
Has it really been 1991? I thought this was the award that came into place when Britney Spears was presenting him and he took the decoration off his birthday cake and said he won the artist of the millennium.
I agree that it’s nice when songs resonate across generations, but I’m also glad that you chose the word “seemed” because when talking generations it’s easy to fall into the good old days trap because we mix up our world view at the time and with that actual status of the world. For instance 90s music can make me think of a simpler more innocent time but that is not because the because the 90s were a simpler and more innocent time than today, it’s because my outlook on the world was much simpler and more innocent.
I enjoy many of their demos and outtakes, but the thing is they have already had so many opportunities to release the quality ones such as through the Anthology series.
“if anyone is butt hurt about my opinion wait til you hear the podcast“
If people as a whole ever learned to recognize this bullshit tag line elections and internet interactions would improve vastly.
