This sounds awesome, although I can pretty much guarantee that I'll never be able to participate live. Stereogum staffers with kids: how in the world are you doing ANYTHING at 5:00 on a weekday?
Speaking of Iron Maiden (how's that for a smooth intro), I know what I'm doing on October 11, 2022:

I said it in 2014, and I'll say it again: Adrien, you are crazy for ranking No Prayer last. Now that we've gotten that out of the way (and with the usual disclaimers: my favourite band of all time, rankings subject to change at any time, etc), my current list looks like this:
1. Powerslave
2. Seventh Son of a Seventh Son
3. The Number of the Beast
4. Piece of Mind
5. Somewhere In Time
6. Iron Maiden
7. Killers
8. Senjutsu
9. Brave New World
10. Dance of Death
11. The Final Frontier
12. The Book of Souls
13. A Matter of Life and Death
14. The X Factor
15. No Prayer For The Dying
16. Fear of the Dark
17. Virtual XI
Glad to know that Scott's wife has listened to Tails as many times as I have. So many great songs on that album, my favourite varies depending on the mood I'm in, but most days I would go with "Rose-Colored Times".
Hey, I just noticed that Aaron wrote the Kostnatění blurb. When was the last time we had Ian, Wyatt, Michael and Aaron all in the same Black Market? An embarrassment of riches, I tell you.
My favourite wedding song is Sarah Harmer's "Open Window (The Wedding Song)", which my wife and I had our first dance to - I mean, it's right there in the title :) (Also, congratulations!)
Yeah, it's a bit of a weird list. There's lots of stuff I like on it, and I'm glad to see Maiden and Panopticon in the top 10, but Tribulation at #3? Infinite Granite (which, sorry, is NOT a metal album) at #25?
Funereal/psychedelic/proggy doom is admittedly not really my thing. And I'm glad you're all enjoying it so much. But I just have to say that the new Exodus kicks the Dream Unending's album ass up and down the block and sends it running home to its mommy.
My favourite discovery today is Apparition's album Feel, which I'd never heard of but which landed at #4 on Decibel's top 40 list. If swampy, fetid death metal from Profound Lore sounds like something you'd be interested in, give it a spin.

As a 46-year-old man, I hesitate to use the term "Swiftie", but I do consider her to be one of the best songwriters in pop music history. Now that we've gotten that out of the way, I still think the original version of this song is the best.
Pleasantly surprised to see Persona Non Grata get a shout out in the other albums of note. Converge is the obvious headliner this week, but I really liked the last Exodus album, looking forward to this one too.
200 Stab Wounds of death metal on the wall, 200 Stab Wounds of death metal. You take one down, pass it around, 199 Stab Wounds of death metal on the wall.
199 Stab Wounds of death metal on the wall, 199 Stab Wounds of death metal. You take one down, pass it around, 198 Stab Wounds of death metal on the wall.
Come on, everyone join in!
Scott, you've been holding out on us. Running the best music site on the web AND moonlighting as a Playstation 5 reseller? You are a true renaissance man.

It just mystifies me that THIS is the band that's been anointed as *the* one. I truly do not see (or hear) what the big deal is. But lots of people apparently do, so what the hell, more power to 'em. Me, I'm with Homer on this one.

Damn, I just heard that Eric Greif (Death's manager since pretty close to day one) has died. Apparently he was diabetic and had struggled for a long time with pancreas & kidney issues, but wasn't able to find a kidney donor in time. He worked with Chuck's family on all of the Death-related stuff that's come out since Chuck passed away (the reissues, the documentary, the Death To All tours, etc). He was only 59. RIP.
