I love moshing. I can't really go to standard indie shows anymore because just sitting or standing there watching someone play music, without trying to claw your way to the front, without people slamming into you and jumping on top of you, without feeling like it's possible you could suffocate in this sweaty-ass tiny club, is...pretty boring. But, I just dont get hardcore moshing- the windmills, spin kicks, and, the guys up there beating each other with belts. That shit is fucking dumb as fuck amd looks even stupider in-person. There's a fine line between moshing and potentially injuring someone else for life.
Wait, what now? This is supposed to be the *good* song? This is some weak 2014-esque beat with some vocals that don't go with it at all and just feels totally overwrought and cheesy. And I like White Pony.
Anyone who hasn’t read Weiss’ long read on Drakeo’s case, and considers him or herself a music fan, needs to go read that right now. It is incredible and unbelievable.
No, being obsessed with a formerly really famous pop star to the point of having a person grudge against her makes you a Trump supporter. But, as an avowed Trump-hater, I can tell you that you arent wrong that Clinton's, and now Biden's, MO of: "we have no real position on the issues and we sure as shit aint helping you plebes, but celebrities are cool and love us!" is pretty awful.
Shortly after release of Stankonia, Outkast played a free show at University of Florida, with a relatively unknown rapper named Ludacris opening, on a Friday night. It was chaos, in the best sense of the word. The city and campus pretty much shut down the entire day, because EVERYBODY was going to that show; not even the biggest football games had a buzz in the air like that concert. It was incredible. That is the thing that really sticks with me to this day: EVERYONE was so excited and going to the concert, regardless of whether they were a huge rap fan, regardless of age, gender, race, etc. Outkast pulled everybody in, and it was so much and so incredible. Great memory.
Fuck man. Goddamnit. 2020 fucking sucks so hard.
I wish this song was a living thing so I could viciously murder it. Give me a fucking break. Joe “nothing will fundamentally change” Biden.
“ Fear is in the air/ But when Joe is president, hope is everywhere/ Troubles fly away, and life is easy go/ Joe will keep us safe, that’s all we need to know.” Unless you’re a small child or other innocent civilian in a Middle Eastern country not named Saudi Arabia or Israel!
It is genuinely great finding other people who dont just know Salem, but appreciate them. King Night is so rad and none of my friends would accept it at the time.
Jesus fucking Christ they’re doing the Hillary playbook all over again. Look, Biden, just give us healthcare and an end to corporate rule. That’s it. I don’t need some boomer bullshit fake band reuniting because they were funny 30+ years ago; I need my kid’s broken arm not to cost $20k after insurance.
That guy is 37?!! Damn, I really thought he was like 60-something.
I love those lyrics! "Yooooooooou/Should have retireeeeeeeeed/long aggggggggggggggo/We lionize you/And you clearly showed us you don't give a shit about usssssssssssssssssssssssssssss" What a jam
Kind of related: prior to her transisition, and just after, before she moved to Chicago, LJG lived one town over from me. Right after she made the transition, and before TDB was even announced let alone released, Against Me! played a small show at a local club— about 200 people max capacity. I got tickets and the show subsequently sold out. Right before they took the stage, the energy in that place was palpable. When they came out, the drummer started a prolonged intro to the song Transgender Disphoroa Blues— that kind of train- chugging down the tracks drumming? After like 2 minutes of that, the rest of the band burst ok to stage and ripped into the song with so much energy. No one had really hard that song yet and she sang with such fury— I am getting chills right now just remembering it, no joke. So rad..
100%-- of all the bands currently working in the emo, punk, post-hardcore 4th 0r 5th wave or whatever this is, Touche Amore never really did it for me. These are my favorite songs of theirs by far.
This is what I expected Astronoid to do/become. This is rad as hell.
Riz is super underrated— as were Swet Shop Boys. And Heems too!!
I think Video Games is fucking awesome
“ via co-producer Casey Foubert and mastering engineer T.W. Walsh, The Ascension boasts more than one connection to the famously ex-Christian David Bazan....” Oh fuck yeah now you’ve got my attention
Someone get this man some Angel Du$t 'Pretty Buff', stat!!
This rules. Also worth a plug is the Mortality Rate/Judiciary split from a few years ago. That shit is awesome.
I think he may be...losing his edge.
He’s no NBA Stupid A$$ that’s for sure. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=LuueHTka170
I have shared this before, but Tom, you are directly responsible for me discovering Power Trip and, in doing so, discovering my love of thrash and, from there, a lot of metal i would've written off a long time ago. I usually don't feel anything when musicians or celebrities, even those whose work I enjoy, pass away. But this hit like a punch in the gut. I love Power Trip so, so much. I literally was just listening to them at the gym two days before Riley's passing and thinking, man, i cannot wait for a new album, they are due for one soon. Fucking sucks. I am still really sad. He made amazing music with an important message.
Biden: We’ll just work make sure the fires aren’t quite so devastating in the future; maybe save an extra 5 or 6 houses. In fact, when I was a kid, they had a saying, “don’t go fightin no brush fire if you ain’t got a fire to brush,” and I think we should all remember that.
Yep. I only discovered them through the hype, like 2 months before they broke up. I still have my CD I burned from Napster— that album blew my mind. I tried with Mars Volta and it just never happened. Sparta did have some jams.
That is a crucial comma.
Lol, thought you were doing a serious contrarian take.
I like the part where it really fucking sucks
It’s so so good!!
Right?! Acknowledging that people became more literate under Castro is 100% the same as Kopmala withholding evidence that would free an innocent man, and definitely shows a "soft spot" for multiple dictatorships. Got his ass!
Awesome, I love it when history doesnt repeat itself, let alone in the stupidest possible way.
"... watch as New York Yankees slugger Aaron Judge deposits a dong into the left field seats..." Wait, what now?
Dude this rules. I'd add this to my running playlist if it was on Spotify for sure!
I had no idea, and I would consider myself a mild Andrew Bird appreciater.
Dude. This Black Curse record aint no joke. This is gnarly as hell. Thanks for the recommendation.
