Man, if anything, 'Diamon One' is such an intense banger, and I have been blasting that since it came out, the other 3 songs are a little bit of a letdown.
LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL. I am sorry, but this only true if you were a teenager in the mid-2000's. Chesire Cat came out when I was in 10th grade and it was so different from any of the other punk bands, it was incredible. It might seem cheesy or lame, but none of the bands in that scene were expressing vulnerability, embarrassment, lack of self-confidence, etc., let alone in the way they were. It is hands down, without a doubt, their best record. I'd argue their records can pretty much be ranked from best to worst simply by going in chronological, except California is better than anything g that came after TOYPAJ.
As the Official 'Gum Blink Stan, may I say, Fuck this record. They should've called this record "Back in Black" because they bought into the bad, third-wave emo bullshit of wearing all black, all the time. Also started sucking. There's a couple good ones on here, but this is the beginning of the end of Blink being a good band.
Not sure where the irony comes in. Because, yes, I absolutely stan for the godfather’s of this genre. And, Blink was (or at least the first 3 albums) 1000000000x better, catchier, and more interesting than a bunch of social media dorks just looking for a new trend to glom onto it, bc all the other ones have been exhausted.
I'm sorry, but "good 4 u" is not pop-punk. It's pop. The other new acts you reference are the same: they are pop (and mostly bad, generic pop) with some guitars, and the artists got a marketing budget to hit Hot Topic. GTFO with this shit.
I have never been moved by a celebrity's death until now. This really just makes me so sad. The music was incredible, the message was just as good. I miss this band.
I do have fantasies of Damian from Fucked Up joining the remaining members of Power Trip and forming an amazing band to continue the Power Trip legacy.

Is this is good counter to my below post. I’d agree, they do their thing and (I guess) do it well. But I’m definitely one of the “haters” and would assert that, yes, there is quite a bit to roll eyes at. But, like you said, they’re doing their thing— so, while I roll my eyes, they don’t really get me worked up. It’s probably more the online worship and Stans that are annoying than the band itself.
I love Undertow, which is an amazing album— but not sure I’d feel that way if I wasn’t in 9th grade when it came out. Otherwise, never understood what anyone really liked about the other records, which to me are bloated and take themselves way too seriously.
I fucking love this guy. Dude has made some rad songs in his time and definitely doesn't get his due. In addition to the other deep cuts listed above, this song fucking JAMS: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i0PD1nVz0kA
First song on this new LP is great. I am going to be listening to this all day for sure.
All the comments remind me again that, irrespective of whether you like the bands, Fest is the best music festival around. Tickets are affordable; there’s an unbelievable amount of bands; the set-up/venue system is great, as is the main stage; affordable food, water, and beer; and of course that if you only want to see some bands, you can buy one-off tickets instead of a full pass.
If You are anywhere near Gainesville and have even a passing interest in some of the bands, I cannot recommend it enough. I go by myself some years if friends can’t join me, it’s so good.
The self titled debut LP (which I think had members of Less Than Jake) is awesome. If anyone digs this new song and hasn’t heard that album, go check it out! That tape didn’t leave my car stereo 11th grade year.
I watched these guys play the proverbial audience-of-5-but-we’ll-play-like-there’s-500 show and they slayed. One of my favorite gym bands right now and this is so good.
Props to Tom for posting their demo a while back and putting me on to them.
Man, I used to have a CD longbox for the Cop Killer album. My mom threw it away when I went to college. I would love to have that back. Ice-T was one of my absolute faves growing up, the OG Original Gangster and Home Invasion tapes stayed in my Walkman.
Holy shit how is everyone sleeping on that SPICE record?? Best rock n roll record of the year, and I only found out about it because of a post Tom did; only media coverage i have seen for it, in fact. It's fucking bonkers good.
I dont know what happened between El and Aes (and apparently Lif) personally-- someone said some fall out over Camu Tao's death. Whatever the reason, the fact that there isnt an RTJ track or multiple tracks with both Aes and Lif on them-- or the fact that they arent just full-fledged members of the group-- is a damn shame. Always thought those 3 Jukkies' voices and styles complimented each other so well.
