Weezer being included in the list as an influence is still my favorite tidbit... Give me a Kacey-Rivers duet on the next album please.
I am interested to hear what in the heck this is going to sound like... I wasn't as crazy about Golden Hour as an album, but the songs that I liked were in my constant rotation all throughout the year. I have no idea how all of those influences on her new album can all exist in a cohesive album, but Kacey is a good enough artist that I'm sure it'll be well done.
Dacus my man, Dacus!
This looks like a blast. I'm a huge Motion City Soundtrack fan so I'm amped to see they were added. Cannot wait to see PUP either.
The Stage Names was one of those albums that got me into the indie rock genre when I was in high school... I remember in high school relying on the iTunes "we think you might like..." sections in order to find new music. I had recently discovered The National's Boxer, and was looking at what they recommended and stumbled across the Stage Names. I'm not entirely sure I'd put those bands into the same category, but I think you could find some correlations between Will's and Matt's lyrics.
The undercard is fantastic on Friday, but beyond that, there are only a handful of artists I'd want to see on Saturday and Sunday. Friday with Bartees Strange, Orville Peck, Freddie Gibbs, RMR, and Future Islands would be a heck of a day. I wouldn't be opposed to seeing Billie Eilish either.
Honestly shocked that Megan Thee Stallion wouldn't be considered the headliner over A$AP. I would much rather see A$AP, but Megan seems to be one of the biggest names in pop right now.
Yeah I tried to give So Much Fun a listen and gave up about halfway through. I did really enjoy Beautiful Thugger Girls, and plan on giving So Much Fun another shot next month when it drops on vinyl.
There's some good stuff on here, but I haven't heard a Young Thug album since Jeffery where I've loved almost every track. Some tracks just blend into each other and the sound gets a bit too repetitive for me.
It worked!! And my change from Carly Bae Jepson to Carly Bae Jepsen has been completed!! Go Scott!
So excited to give this a listen. Back in college, I was visiting some friends over the large block party Mifflin in Madison. In order to try to take the waves of college kids away from the underage drinking bonanza, they put on a concert every year. The day of, I heard about it and saw that Ilovemakonnen was headlining and we liked a few songs so we went to check him out. We walked in for his headlining set, and there were no more than 50 people in the entire venue. When the show started, I half expected him to half ass the performance since the attendance was so low, but he came out and absolutely crushed it. I'll always remember that concert and appreciate the energy he put into performing to such a small group. Shoutout to Trust me Danny which was my jam for a good 2 years.
Just so everything isn't about his hair - I also love this song. It's been a long 20-21.
Not a big fan of Toby, his politics, or the whole, we'll put a boot in your ass.... but Should've Been a Cowboy slaps.
I'm such a sucker for huge instrumental build up, and this certainly scratches that itch. I can always tell when a song is great lyrically too when on the first listen multiple lines stick out to me. Such a great song! So pumped for this album.
From what I can tell, you may have forgotten to post the link to the video. With that being said, I looked up the track and it's fine. Huge fan of The National, but still haven't been able to connect with LNZNDRF. This song is probably my favorite of the tracks I've heard from them though, an expect that this one may be a grower.
This just reminds me how much I miss live music. Great performance.
Wasn't crazy about Dora but both of these songs are fantastic. Brb, going to listen to Whack World.
I echo the sentiments that this is an impossible task, but my few disagreements come with PDLIF being on the list at all, Beth/Rest being in the top 10, and probably my most controversial is that Woods shouldn't be on the list. Woods is a beautiful song, but I think there are so many better songs out there. Overall though, this is a really solid list. In my personal top 10, I would have to include Towers, Creature Fear, and 715 CREEKS.
I'll be honest in that I never have really explored Jerry Jeff Walker's entire discography, but there is a song from a summer camp that I attended that has always stuck with me. Night Rider's Lament. There was a camp volunteer who was in his late 50's with a big burly beard and would get up and sing this song at the campfire once a year, and it's always meant alot to me. It might be time to give his entire catalog a listen, but that one song has always meant a ton to me.
Feel the same way but with Mustang instead of Boomer. Both great songs, but hot damn Mustang gets me fired up.
Getting really amped to hear the full length album from beabadoobee. The singles have all been great so far.
I haven't burnt out on Caution yet, and I've heard that song so many times. Absolute anthem.
I like the message of the song, but I can't see myself listening to this one regularly...
As always, Carly crushing it. She's lookin damn good in that video too. Carly Bae.
Aaron Dessner is all OVER this!!!! All of these songs could be The National instrumentals, and Taylor handles them really well and puts her own pop influence on them. As a mega fan of The National, I have a feeling I'll be playing this on repeat the rest of the year. Also, Looney Joe has come to bat for T Swift, so Swift haters watch yourself - Joe is laying down the law in this comment section!
I really enjoy Young Thug, but I'm shocked to see that he's headliner status for a music festival. Has anyone seen him live before? I really haven't even seen many clips of his live performances before.
This is probably my favorite Flaming Lips song I've heard in awhile. I'll be honest that I've always leaned a little more towards their poppier stuff and struggled to get on board with most of their albums since Embryonic. This is phenomenal though.
The mask is a huge part of what made him as popular as he is. It's definitely a little gimmicky but it has been instrumental to his career.
Hot damn this is SO good. I'm gonna say it. Dedicated Side B is better than Dedicated Side A. This slaps.
LETS GO!!!!! Thank you for your concern. I should really post some contact information on here for emergency moments like this.
I AM SO EXCITED RIGHT NOW! I KEEP WAKING UP TO EXCITING MUSIC NEWS AND I DONT WANT IT TO STOP!
NEW MATT BERNINGER AND JEFF ROSENSTOCK TODAY!?!?! LETS GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
I Am Easy to Find is a great album, it just doesn't stack up to the rest of their discography. You Had Your Soul With You, Quiet Light, Oblivions, Where Is Her Head, Not In Kansas, Rylan, and Light Years to me are all top tier tracks. Unfortunately some of the songs in-between those tracks have started to wear on me over time. The single by Matt is also great BTW. I'm not throwing any shade at Serpentine Prison.
I've always liked the Maximum Balloon record. It's got some stellar tracks!
The Black Album isn't good, but I actually didn't hate Can't Knock the Hustle, Zombie Bastards, and REALLY like High as a Kite. Even though Weezer is rarely putting out quality albums in full, it does impress me that there are a few songs on almost every album that I still like. Even on the dumpster fire that is Raditude, they still have (If You're Wondering if I Want You To) I Want You To.
Boxer Alligator High Violet Sleep Well Beast Sad Songs for Dirty Lovers Trouble Will Find Me I Am Easy to Find The National (s/t)
That was such a cool moment. The performances by The National at the Eaux Claires festival were fantastic, despite Matt maybe having a few too many drinks beforehand and fumbling a few lyrics, haha.
Such an amazing album. I was a high school senior who had become obsessed with Boxer and Alligator, and this was the first album that I remember counting down the days for until its release. This album cemented The National as my favorite band, and they've stayed there ever since. The album has had different songs stick out to me over the last ten years... especially when Bloodbuzz Ohio's lyrics applied to me more than I would've liked them too. I'm so grateful for this band and this album.
