p4k should just stay away from metal. why even include something like Portal if you clearly don't know what you're talking about? not even Portal fans think Vexovoid is the best death metal album of the decade. Sunbather as the only black metal album at #123 is just insulting. Marrow of the Spirit? Celestial Lineage? Autumn Eternal? Years Past Matter? The Satanist? Varahtelija? Rites of Separation? i cackled like a madman when i realized the only heavy track on the Songs list was a decent Sleep song, sandwiched between Adele and DJ fucking Khaled. i've never been so embarrassed for a major music publication.

ya boy got engaged!! we're still working on the playlist, but i think our first dance will be Pharmakon, "Self-Regulating System", then we'll probably kick off the dance floor with Mastodon, "The Wolf is Loose" ;)

Museum of Natural History is my favorite museum in the world and Brooklyn Museum is my favorite art museum. MoMA will be open again by 11/9 but it's kind of a ripoff. Don't go on Free Friday, it's a nightmare. Di Fara is worth the wait. Grimaldi's is not. Lucali definitely isn't. but then again the city is awash with great pizza, don't feel like you have to seek out "the best". take the ferry to Governor's Island, it's a bit out of the way but worth spending an afternoon. Ohmyrockness.com is the concert guide. there is no music scene here anymore, but the venues and clubs are still mostly concentrated in Williamsburg and Greenpoint. do not engage with crazies on the subway. be on a rooftop. pick up your walking pace.

i think it's fine to say you're not a fan of Billie Eilish but posting underneath every Eilish article just to say how trash she is comes off as embarrassing and hostile (not directed at you specifically, just in general).

i'm with you, dan. the intense anti-poptimism used to be kinda cute but lately it has gotten really mean-spirited and exhausting. any time there is an article about a pop star it feels like people are just itching to jump in with a snarky comment. it's not a good look. i'm not a fan of most pop music but i appreciate that it has its own passionate fanbase, and i try not to go out of my way to dump on anyone's enjoyment of music. if you don't like the artist an article is about, you can always... not post? that's what i do. i also agree that people are far more lenient with artists they already like (peep the comments on any Morrissey post for dudes eternally willing to defend him) and far more willing to sharpen their knives for any artist they are pre-disposed to dislike.

Big Grrrl Small World and Lizzobangers are both great records. Cuz I Love You is alright. not sure it's fair to call her a shitty person for a couple of dumb tweets. the album review tweet is a mountain out of a molehill imo, like yeah getting mad about a bad review is dumb but acting all "well, i never!" just because an artist took a shot at critics is also dumb. let's not forget that Colin Meloy encouraged Decemberists fans to send photos of their butts to P4K after Hazards of Love got panned and i don't see anyone calling him a shitty person.

Tom, while you were enjoying your new life in the city, i was already 2 years in and doing a reverse commute from Bushwick to my job at a liquor store in Jersey City (because i studied poetry during a financial crisis, like a genius). the liquor store only played Lite FM, which means i heard the Alicia Keys version every single day while selling tall boys to homeless people at the mouth of the Holland Tunnel, before returning into the yawning maw of the city and wondering why the fuck i even live here if i work for minimum wage in New Jersey. where dreams are made of, indeed. so yeah, this song just makes me depressed.
