dansolo you are generally one of my favorite posters on here but this shit is exactly what i'm talking about. "pathetic fanboy shit"? like dude i'm sorry i can't just flip a switch and turn off 10 years of loving his music and i think there are things worth discussing about him and his current output. if you're mad at kanye that's fine and completely understandable but why insult other Stereogum posters over it? it's truly lame.
kanye just isn't fun to discuss on here anymore, while a lot of people have legitimate beef with his behavior (which i totally understand) a lot of other people just want to yell.
this is so sick. it made me realize i hadn't listened to their 2019 album and that's also really good!
man, i love this show. it's actually crazy how much better Glover is at filmmaking than he is at music. a long time ago he said that the tone of the first two seasons of Atlanta were equivalent to The College Dropout/Late Registration and so season 3 was going to be Graduation, i wonder if that's still true. this teaser implies they're going in a different direction. it's gonna be interesting! as for lil dicky, the less said about him the better, i think.
i was too scared to post my spoon take on the site this week but yeah i see this
these guys broke out 10 years ago, jesus christ
house of blues sucks but it's not because of the size IMO, it's the three-level auditorium and the insanely shitty ownership.
accidental downvote. had no idea about this story, what a tragedy
kind of a weird spot for a venue but i'm into it. it's right down the street from Brighton Music Hall and (hopefully) the new Great Scott but having a GA venue this size in Allston feels like a good thing to me. when i was younger i lived right across the street from here in an apartment that probably costs like twice as much as it used to because of developments like this.
i don't even like pinkpantheress that much but this is a crime
these tracks are both incredible
i hope the mouse cursor is actually a part of the shirt design

i don't know, this album reads to me as pretty clearly inspired by HNDRXX from 2017 (which is a better album). i think that project really was Future stretching out and it got basically no traction, which i think sort of hurt him. i do think Beast Mode 2 and Save Me are both underrated projects and even The WIZRD is a lot of fun, but yeah his last album and the collab tapes are pretty bad. really hoping that him taking 2021 off is a sign he's coming back with a renewed focus.
idk man they just make good phones it's not that serious lol
should've been an anniversary piece on this one imo, a true classic!
it definitely has a more consistent aesthetic than Good News but the songs are mostly weaker IMO.
incredible interview. it's unlikely but i do hope the Brock/Marr/Mercer version of Modest Mouse comes together again someday
happy all this stuff is coming out but sometimes i think of all the Beatles fans who died while this footage sat on a shelf for fifty years and get massively depressed. hope my favorite artists don't wait that long to raid their vaults.
oh man, weird choice for a second single but i really like this, i always love her vocal melodies and this one is really restrained, but by the end it was really working for me. hoping there are more guitar tracks than synth tracks on the album though
she's a massively popular artist and the site needs to pay the bills, there's no conspiracy and it's truly annoying that people pretend like it's just Phoebe Bridgers as if the site hasn't had similar phases covering artists like Kanye, Grimes, Father John Misty, etc.
yeah i don't even like beck but he has a ton of great songs, it's part of what makes his whole thing annoying
well like i just said i don't think she's ragging on anyone, and neither did anyone in the replies, so again, you're reading too much into it lol
like clockwork https://twitter.com/Eve6/status/1447971792451104771
they sound like the gang vocals from a mighty mighty bosstones cover of this song
this is the second time you've brought up this tweet on the site but i think you're reading too much into it, she's just saying her fans look cool and she was a dork as a kid, not everything is an attack lol https://twitter.com/phoebe_bridgers/status/1443207709122342929
i'm talking about Sub Pop as a label dude lol
all "Built to Spill have signed with Sub Pop" means in 2021 is that their next album is going to have an intolerably long 6 month rollout with too many singles.
happy for the good folks in We Are The Union for this opportunity but holy shit i hate this whole Eve 6 comeback, the entire thing feels so cynical to me. good for the dude i guess for realizing that pretending to be a leftist shitposter and leaning heavily on memes could make his band relevant again but i wish the media/twitter influencer ecosystem was slightly more discerning i guess lol.
feel like it's a fine line to walk between a cover being too close to the original and being too divergent. this Bad Religion cover is unrecognizable besides the lyrics. cool, but really wanted to hear her belt out that "It's a bad religion" title drop the way Frank does oh well.
Viscous Lies and Dangerous Rumors is extremely underrated IMO, all those songs with Phantogram are fucking awesome and better than the EP they put out a little later.
truly one of the most baffling and offensive major motion pictures i've ever seen
i mean that's fine it just makes the whole thing come across as extremely disingenuous to me. it was wildly successful so clearly others didn't mind.
so dope, he must be so mad he has to leave it off the album.
from doing a little digging it seems like she was accusing him of some kind of racially motivated harassment that led to someone's death indirectly, and not an actual homicide/murder, which is probably why she used the word "killing" instead, but probably not the best description of that kind of series of events.
i mean, i spent the whole pandemic in one room. people do live that way. maybe i'm just being a hater but i actually liked bo's last special and still for some reason found this one insufferable. idk!
it's definitely a crazy fucking story. unfortunately it's hard to find anything about it since now every google result is about this new defamation case. it's certainly possible these claims were made up or exaggerated or something i just don't think that anything about this whole case is "clear-cut" like that other poster said. even if that part is untrue, Phoebe's being sued mostly because of an instagram post where she said "I witnessed and can personally verify much of the abuse (grooming, stealing, violence) perpetuated by Chris Nelson" which could absolutely be true even if the ex's claims aren't.
saw someone on my timeline snark that "brookyln steel is the new vegas casino" but i do actually think it's cool that you can go see LCD Soundsystem in a venue that holds less than 2k people at this stage in their career.
defamation suits go forward before being shot down all the time, that's literally what we have courts for. in this instance 3 separate women have publicly accused him of abusive behavior. there's really no evidence that makes this a "clear-cut instance of a personal dynamic that soured" so maybe consider that your inclination to believe the man who has presented the public with 0 evidence doesn't actually make you smarter than people people believing the women who presented the public with 0 evidence. at the end of the day all we had is "he said, she said" except, well, when it's "he said, she said, and so did she, and also her" it's pretty sus imo
this song is lyrically such a transparent Father John Misty ripoff it actually pisses me off. halfway between Pure Comedy and Holy Shit but 1% as good as either one of those. did you know the whole Inside special was shot in dude's guest house? sort of spoils the bit a little when you know that lol.
