timescreamer dude r.e.m. rock
i'd recommend people listen to the sped-up version too, just because, well honestly, it's nice to hear the man's voice again https://www.reddit.com/r/fatherjohnmisty/comments/ri2buk/album_promo_sped_up_and_eqd_a_bit/
"Available April 8, 2022 on Subpop and Bella Union. Father John Misty's new album: Chloe and the Next 20th Century. Get it on vinyl, CD, the other one, uh, cassette. And in beautiful deluxe hardback edition with expanded artwork and much more. Is this real? It is. This is the album. You're listening to it right now. That's nice. 11 new tracks produced by Jonathan Wilson and Josh Tillman. Chloe and the Next 20th Century. It's technically new."
this sounds dope. out of the few metal albums i've tried over the last few years, the blood incantation record was basically the only one that did anything for me. happy to see them chasing that psych prog dragon
i've got some great news to share about number 2 https://www.reddit.com/r/fatherjohnmisty/comments/ri2buk/album_promo_sped_up_and_eqd_a_bit/
say what you will about the climate of the US right now, at least this isn't happening over here.
Hot Water Tank is the one here. good lord.
i know this is an old convo and no one will see this but this is a very funny thing to say to half of black dresses
we cannot let people who dress this way be the indie rock standard-bearers. animal collective at their worst never dressed this bad.
these are both great, and very much in the vein of LP3 which i really loved. the arrangement on that mazzy star cover especially is truly excellent.
i would posit that U2 and the Stones releasing a bunch of sub par late career albums is what makes them heritage acts, actually.
In Rainbows also did not "contain entirely new songs" whatever that means i don't think that's a fair dig on AMSP. they've always been a band willing to reach back and rework old material into new forms, whether that's Reckoner or Burn the Witch or True Love Waits or whatever. i think what's going on with Radiohead is that they're all old and have other shit going on. if they're not making a big deal out of it, no reason we should either. there will be a new radiohead record when they feel like it.
someone on reddit found a listing for a new Misty album on german amazon. if it's real the album is going to be called "Chloe and the Next 20th Century"
yeah i was revisiting In League With Dragons a few days ago and i have to agree, i think when it came out i was looking forward to a whole album with the aesthetic of "Cadaver Sniffing Dog" and "Younger" and it definitely is not that, the album goes all over the place tonally, but it's an incredible selection of songs. in some ways Dark In Here is the album i was expected In League With Dragons to be. i'm a big fan of all the third-era mountain goats albums though.
the mountain goats album that came out this year Dark In Here is one of their best in a long time, if you're a lapsed fan or a newbie. also Islands put out one of their best albums ever Islomania if you're interested some good old indie synthpop.
yeah i mean that's definitely an insanely bad faith way to take my point, sure.
kevin's weird kardashian comparison instantly puts me on bissell's side here.
idk i'm over this at this point, the insane amount of live concert footage on YouTube is awesome and it doesn't really detract from my own concert experience if someone else wants to stand still and film for 2 hours straight. i always love going back to footage from shows i was at five years later.
everyone should! forever tinnitus is not fun, trust me.
a man died today and you just want to score culture war points. we see you.
none of that has anything to do with the man who was killed today and it's disrespectful to try and turn this into a conversation about some law a different state is passing.
what is the intention here? there has literally been no information released about what happened. this kind of speculation less than an hour after a man was killed is ghoulish.
we live in hell
you can't go 2 posts without screaming about how soft the kids are dude, you're just as offended as anyone else just about different shit.
god damn chris, this is a manifesto! excited to dig in. this is drake's only Great Album imo (and honestly maybe even his only Good Album) but what an album it is.
i think this person just accidentally posted their comment on the wrong article. in general i agree with you that the attitude around here is miserable but i honestly don't think it's the TNOCS boomers, it's all the bitter gen Xers aging into reactionary weirdos.
s/o to jack for the awesome write up but thank god donald stopped rapping and started singing
the completely different tracklist order on this is fucking hilarious. somehow it makes even less sense than the original. just an admission that the best way to listen to this album is probably on shuffle. anyway, as the resident donda fan, super happy to get these alt takes and missing tracks. the only bummer now is the missing Pusha T/Kanye verse on the title track. i really do think this album is going to age gracefully.

sorry folks but this song slaps
i have never, ever, ever gotten the hype around this band, until 7 dropped which is magnificent. whatever change brought on the darker and more synthetic elements to their sound on that album, i hope they keep that up
starting to think that these guys are the best working band right now
damn i didn't know she played an SG. more indie rockers should play SGs.
like you posted an Azealia Banks song on this site a week ago and that is someone who has said more hateful and heinous shit than Kanye ever has. it's 2021, everyone is listening to problematic shit because our entertainment industry is built and owned by monsters. it's possible to own that fact without shitting on other posters for having a complicated relationship with an artist they fell in love with before everything turned into shit.
