I'm surprised that the title track is your least favorite. To each their own, but man, when I first heard that song, I was floored. It was perfect, or maybe it just arrived at the perfect moment. I don't know. But I still have that feeling everytime I hear it.
The only thing I’ll add here is that I had a surprisingly delightful time listening to “Coloratura” by Coldplay this year. It would be on my list if I had one.
Oh yes, calling Deafheaven metal is usually a warrant for jail time around these parts. I also realize that Infinite Granite was their least metal album to date (although, I don't know what you would call "Mombasa"), but I'm just surprised it didn't make any of these lists. Pitchfork's weird rating system aside, I thought the album was a triumph.
My dude, there was a dang ambulance in the middle of the pit cart passed out kids away, and you didn't stop to think that maybe something was seriously wrong before resuming the show? FOH.
The band sounded fantastic last night! I really enjoyed the setlist too. Maybe would've liked to hear "In the Cage" and some stuff from Abacab and A Trick of the Tail, but alas, I can't complain. And yeah, Phil is what he is at this point, but I was pleasantly surprised at how he sounded at times. Not to mention, he's still got his sense of humor and wit. Shoutout to Nic Collins who filled his shoes quite well on the drums. The visuals were great, as usual with them (I actually thought the toilet paper thing was pretty funny). I hope this isn't the last time we get to hear these songs live but I'm not holding my breath.
I hated this album at first, honestly don't know why. Maybe I had something against Danger Mouse productions. But I quickly came around. It's a fucking stone-cold classic. Every song is a banger! They don't make 'em like this anymore.
Yes! I was happy to see last year, as I drove to Flordia to visit my family, there was not one but TWO Buccee's on the way! I'm glad you were able to enjoy the glory of the beaver nugs.
I am drunk and on my honeymoon and I don’t wanna go home (this is a tweet for all you Miranda Lambert and Elle King and honeymoon fans out there). Happy weekend.
Michael Stipe is always so wonderfully insightful and poetic in his interviews. I really enjoyed this, and I hope his late night recording session means that he is finishing up that solo album.
