This is fucking great, and Skinner nails it on the drums, but I think Phil Selway would have had a field day with this one. Can easily hear this as a Radiohead song, still wondering how they chose which songs to keep aside for this project
Oh wow Toro x Unknown Mortal Orchestra is going to be some HEAT. Also excited to see Mattson 2 appearing here, their collabs eith Bear have been so so satisfying
The shenanigans were one of the best things about it! Remember seeing that notepad slowly filling up with autographs and names and just imagining the possibilities. Amazing period lmao
I had two Droog albums in my AOTY list last year, Tha YOD Fahim being one of them - so I'm obviously super excited for this. These guys have been spoiling us with so much great music over the past couple of years, it's unbelievable
A goddamn masterpiece of an album, from a band that shockingly somehow made two more that are just as great (Last Building Burning is INCREDIBLE and is for some reason really overlooked, but it's every bit as hard hitting as this one)
I love this record a lot but I think I like Here and Nowhere Else somehow manages to top it if only for the fact that Jason Gerycz seems to have completely abandoned any brakes he had left while recording it. I got to see them touring that album in '14 and that show was peak after peak after peak, simply incredible musicians and music
Exciting as this show may be, this trailer is fucking hilariously terrible. Dre's goatee makes him look like a friendly uncle. Kendrick's whole segment is simply ridiculous. lmao
Worth mentioning Atom Willard played drums in most RFTC releases long before he joined Against Me! though... and also for The Offspring for a while!
Anyway this sounds like extremely my shit and I'm never not going to listen to any new music by Swami so let's fucking go
Another thing to like: Seems like screamo/indie loving guitarist Melucci acted in the original Broadway production of School of Rock, which is a hell of a bio fact
Anxiously (sorry) waiting for this - the singles were really good and I'm always ready to rally around a new emo band. aaaand there's a house on the cover! so much for me to like here
That DJ Shadow track is absolutely incredible and I almost missed it just because of it being a "remix" of a King Gizz album I didn't particularly care for
All killer no filler list this week. Althogh I would definitely switch the top 2 songs around, haven't been able to get Fontaines out of my head this week. Absolutely incredible song
absolutely wild to see Noa Kirel on this site lmao. she's absolutely HUGE here, like Ariana level huge. But I think her US-market-targeted English excursions are trying to hard to actually be Arian Grande instead of bringing some personality & local flavor, but not sure this will get her far in a country where this type of pop stars are aplenty.. but we'll see!
His last album was pretty good so casually excited for this one. Also, he was already on a (great!) track with Nas and Gibbs last year, and I thought he sounded real comfortable there in between these giants
Almost insane to hear Yorke's aged voice over this guitar sound. I fucking love it! So happy that that Johnny & him are still interested in noisy guitar music, now bring in that LP
The first Wombats album was a HUGE album for me when it came out. I was 15 and in love with dudes yelping in an English accent over punky guitars and this was extremely my shit back then. But then the next album wasn't half as good and I immediately gave up on these guys, save for the nostalgic spin of that first album every once in a while. Would have probably skipped this one as well but this shoutout convinces me to at least give it a try, so we'll see!
the alternative "collector's edition" vinyl covers on his site are pretty sick tho
