You make a good point as always stereodog.
I know we’ve established the rules of howseing actually allow for listening to singles, but I’m going to have to incorrectly howse this bad boy and I’ll see you in February when the whole thing drops. Bonus points because Beach House.
I’ve been thinking about this. The Melbourne leg of that Big Day Out was my first festival experience and you could see that everyone was doing what they could to make it a safe experience. They were giving out free water, sunscreen, and everyone just seemed really conscious of how quickly things could spiral out of control. The following year though, all that was gone.
You fool! Can't you see it's a massive government conspiracy? Or have they gotten to you too?
Someone was picked on by Travis Scott fans as a kid.
Yeah, totally. I think it was the key for me. After that clicked the rest of the album just seemed to fall into place, but damn if I don’t listen to Harmonia’s dream about three times each listen of the album. They’ve delivered the goods again.
I started the week disappointed with the new wod and ended the week with it as a possible AOTY. It definitely benefits from repeated listens.
‘West said signing Sean was “the worst thing I ever did,”’ Mate, you’ve done worse things in this very interview.
It’s $80 (around $60 USD) here. I ended up getting it on CD but even then it was almost twice the price of a regular CD.
I got a negative result which is good so back to work on Monday. Yeah, this week has been really disheartening with those case numbers, but until this week I’d had no real exposure to it, even though I’ve been working through the entire pandemic with dozens of people.
Fingers crossed this is the last weekend in lockdown and next week I can actually see people who I don’t work with. Had to get tested yesterday because someone at work tested positive, and the nearest testing site was an hour walk away so I spent the whole walk listening to the Field so this weekend is going to be an electronic weekend. Any recommendations?
Things are going to get interesting at the 24 hour mark when a terrorist organisation threaten to delay the new WOD album indefinitely and it’s up to one man to bring them down. Kiefer Sutherland stars as Beans.
The print room tech at uni was a huge Fugazi fan and used to blast it in his office after school. He’d invite students in for beers and you’d be listening to Fugazi and Neurosis. It was awesome.
Is this going to be one of those “remember where you were when...” moments? Because I was on the toilet.
I think that’s what they told a family member to hide that they were actually part of the stolen generation.
That and their Christmas album got played to death around the house when I was a kid and still do when we all get together at Christmas time.
Nation of Language- Across That Fine Line. I’m late to them but I’ve had this song stuck on repeat for a few days now. I need to reset my brain every now and then when music isn’t connecting for me, so I’m just listening to old favourites, which means lots of You Am I, early Dandy Warhol’s and lots and lots of shoegaze.
New Black Country, New Road, Cate Le Bon, that Cassandra Jenkins outtakes album and now THIS!?! 2022 is looking pretty OK.
I’d say nice Warhammer 40k reference, but I don’t know what that is because I’m not a huge nerd.
Bonus fact: That batmobile is now owned by a bunch of Hawthorn fans and West Coast are still shit.
Nah they only call us the English Australia in, like, Argentina or something.
It should seem cringey and jokey, but somehow isn’t. Can you imagine how great you’d feel after that show? It’d be the nicest feeling.
Shit’s fucked. Hope that you’re getting through all of this ok. Here’s hoping we get a (relatively) normal Christmas.
Thanks. Shit, that really sucks to hear. There is nothing worse than seeing family unwell. I sincerely hope things are ok.
This has been an extremely shitty week for me and I’m struggling to even find music that can lift my mood. Someone played the new WOD song* (Howse failed) and that didn’t even do anything. *why is it that all anyone plays at work is the same three fucking Dua Lipa songs and what I can only describe as Christian Gym compilations and I still end up hearing the new War on Drugs songs?
Probably one of the reasons I ended up becoming an artist was because of those album covers. So thanks for that?
My mental health is completely fucked. I just deactivated Facebook last night and I’m going to see if that helps at all.
Pitchfork have been doing this big 25 year retrospective thing and they rescored some old reviews for a feature.
Christ you too are so fucking boring.
Saw the headline and thought “I wonder what Eve 6 guy thinks about this.” Dude doesn’t disappoint... except in his music presumably. I don’t know who the fuck Eve 6 are.
I went back it after ten years and it’s now an all timer for me. I’ll defend Worlds Apart as well.
I suppose my larger issue is that we still get that vile shit around here. Although a lot less than other places. I love seeing hot takes and I love seeing people dying on that hill. I don’t know what my point is exactly. Nirvana aren’t very good. Celebrity Skin is better than Live Through This. I don’t understand the appeal of Fleet Foxes.
