they live like 25 minutes from my folks how did I not know that? Oh right, because I don't care. Fuck this guy.
I just bought a new car and I'm going to blast "Born to Roll" on my way into work
It was gross and I told my mom to not let it happen again
our long national nightmare is over
During the first two years or so of the Trump presidency I had myself convinced Fugazi were coming back; I told anyone that would listen I could feel it in my bones, now was the time, an epic fuck you statement to anyone that supported the bullshit. And then, like a ton of bricks, it hit me. It wasn't going to happen. The Argument had everything they wanted to say, and the timing now was TOO perfect and obvious for them to reemerge. I'm at peace with it; their catalog and moral ethics are beyond compare or reproach so ending with this record just cements the legend. And Tom, your last couple paragraphs here are really touching. I really enjoyed this piece even more hearing that Ian impacted you so directly. Good stuff, buddy.
so sick of people like you; just because someone comments or jabs a person doesn't automatically make them an "ist". If you took a moment and read Tom's work around here you'd understand that.
I'm not the biggest Big Thief fan, I like them ok enough and have mad respect for them, but after seeing them live a few times and as recently as last week I can say for certain that they are one of the tightest live bands out there. Just amazing.
you know, normally I'd breeze right by this post with a big "meh", but good god almighty his "Nothing Else Matters" cover from that Metallica tribute is such a stunner I'm totally jazzed for this.
oh man that's pretty neat, interesting backstory and the song sounds great!
yes I love to virtue signal with my anonymity where literally zero people here know me
what, have we retired this gif or? Because it's the most appropriate in my mind. https://media.giphy.com/media/P7JmDW7IkB7TW/source.gif?cid=ecf05e47wokoqfsf5ysy2c0c00r6e8d9orjkla5eeuo6gw4d&rid=source.gif&ct=g
I hope his full net worth is liquidated and it gets distributed to the women (and maybe even men) he hurt, and he's buried under the prison. Just my two cents anyway.
oh no heavens to betsy
couldn't agree more. By the way, while I have you here, have I ever told you about this AMAZING lavender essential oil I recently started using? I'm telling you, the government and Anthony Falsie don't want you to know about it, but rubbing just 8oz of this oil on your private parts, while sitting upright on velvet furniture and snorting rails of baby powder is the ACTUAL cure for COVID.
Song's decent, and I'll definitely give the record a spin. As disappointing as it is that it seems like we're not getting that Wrens album, good for Kevin for taking control of his work and not letting Charles be a dictator.
that poor little girl holding her mom, people suck
I am done with people that "need to research" the vaccine. I did my part because I trust the guidance from people that have dedicated their lives to public health and I don't want to die from COVID; and yet I currently work with multiple people who refuse to get the jab despite us working in a higher risk environment. We have had multiple outbreaks this past month, I'm still wearing a mask everywhere I go, and I'm back to keeping distance from my loved ones because we need to take extra precautions. The selfishness of people in this country is disgusting, so if vaxxed/unvaxxed segregation becomes the norm then so be it; I just want to be able to see some live music and have a fucking beer and feel safe.

I mean, plenty. Ok you don't like P&L. Listen to a super simple song like Fare Thee Well, Miss Carousel and tell me it's not perfect Americana.
right? It's like I read that, and I chuckle because I'm thinking dude is kidding. But then I realize he stans Switchfoot and I realize he may be serious. On what planet does Townes have zero good songs for pete's sake?
I'm going to be buried way down here, so Tom I hope you see this because I think you'd really enjoy it https://www.thisamericanlife.org/464/invisible-made-visible/act-two-3
oh my word, it's beautiful. But Scott I'm pretty sure it's past your bedtime.
we also live in a world with Mo Tucker in it, sadly
he and Grimes should have an insufferable competition
Man, if you don't appreciate what a wonderful song "Everlong" is there's something wrong with you. And no snark, this kid is absolutely incredible, she played that beautifully and there is no way we don't hear more from her for years to come. I'm actually a little misty...
🎵ya ya feelin' good on a Wednesday🎵 Sparklin'
well shit. Of all places in the world to be, and all of the traveling I have to do in the next ten days, I will actually be in Chicago at the exact time Kanye will be spinning Donda. It's clear and obvious what I must do for all of you. Go suck down some beers and deep dish somewhere else.
lol no, just teasing...it was just in the phrasing and use of "fast" as a descriptor that made me twitch is all. I know you'd never condone abuse, old man. xo
ok you had me until you brought up young girls developing and then I https://media.giphy.com/media/106PwpLIIXJnXi/giphy.gif
how do I delete a Stereogum post?
got your intel from Karen with the MLM business on Facebook, didn't you?
while I liked a fair chunk of their tunes over the years, I guess I'm in the mostly (solo) minority round these parts that were just completely unmoved by this band. So, I couldn't care less that they've dissolved. But that's not meant to be a gloat, instead I just thought I'd drop in to say sorry to all of you that are so hurt by this news. I'll keep my fingers crossed that you all get Dear Tommy sooner rather than later.
