I think your Cheeto-dusted fingers meant to type "your".
yes, true. And I always have a mask everywhere I go, and still wear it inside at shops or wherever out of habit and to be extra cautious. I have some sick people in my life that I take extra measures to protect and still get tested regularly, so I'm pumped that JB and UT are taking precautions as well. If you're going too hope you enjoy
Good. The unvaxxed can get with it or not; they have the right to not get the shot for whatever reason they choose. Just like we have the right to put on rock shows that exclude them. I'm also superstoked that Japanese Breakfast announced they're requiring vaccine proof for admission at the five upcoming shows here in Philly. Gonna be awesome.
one of only two artists I've ever seen live where I had that feeling in my chest like I was just going to burst into tears. Her music is just so painfully beautiful I cannot wait for this record.
If TI wants to live his truth maybe he can take responsibility for what he and his wife have done. Scumfucks, all of them.
For twenty years now I've done an acoustic cover of "Just a Friend" just for myself alone while I'm practicing. No one has ever heard me do it. Next time I play out I'm ending my set with it.
not my style even a little bit, but man Normani is stunningly beautiful and the vocal melody she goes with here is really good and I actually really dug this song. Cardi B totally ruined it for me though, it's a shame they had to throw her on this track.
absolutely, in fact I'd say it's not even close. I'm a huge Beatles fan, but not one to say "X is my favorite Beatle"; to me All Things is just sooooo perfect because George had so much bubbling inside him that he was never able to unleash. Doesn't hurt that he was a fly on the wall for Paul and John too.
holy shit, so I clicked the first hyperlink in this article, and good GODDAMN there were a lot of scumbags with a fuck lot to say about Kim, totally gross.
really great write up! Gotta be completely honest though, I'm reasonably certain I've never heard this song, or if I have it was somewhere in the background and made no impression on me. Little embarrassed about that.
I have an eye condition, it's not serious and you'd never know it if I didn't tell you, but it has this funny way of making queasy. Double Negative does the same thing to me. I love that.
while I disagree with roland that I'm being smug, and the MAIN REASON I got the vaccine was because of multiple cancer patients in my life, he ain't a bad dude and there's no reason to tell him to die.
Sure it does. Every article I read about concerts or businesses with vaccine requirements mentions vax protesters, and I find it too amusing that people who find it reasonable telling others what to do with their own bodies are now trying to flip the script with "my body my rights". Actions have consequences, and those of us that got vaccinated for the collective good now get to enjoy music again. So yeah, I'm happy that I'm protected and protecting others and get to go to rocks shows and these charlatans don't.
the same people picketing and bitching about being denied admittance or access for vaccine refusal are the same people that want to boss around women for their reproductive rights. They can fuck off.
Pat Smear, founding member of the Germs, covering the Bee Gees. Who'd a thunk it?
also a good point. Only I'd say to counter is comparing Deafheaven to St. Vincent is like apples to bowling balls.
I get not being huge on this new tune, but I'd venture a guess it works within the context of the entire album
at some point, I'm not exactly sure when, I reached that level when you age where you begin to forget certain things as you learn new. It's almost like my brain hit peak capacity and started forcing out unnecessary information that I didn't need in the first place. So thanks for me reminding me of that image. Dickhead.
I need to see this as number 1 in SUD and Editor's Choice, do it you cowards!
man I sound almost exactly like Gavin Degraw except replace the concluding positive sentiment with "disgusted" or "shunned", take your pick.
been saying it for years on these boards but this chick is the fucking worst; easy for her to preach about communism when she's with an oligarch
you and me both dawg. I need a whole album of her in this style with Emma. Preferably a double.
I like Nothing, and I know Domenic. Well, actually, I know his older brother, and have met Domenic. Do you realize the irony of this tweet when Domenic himself was the first person to publicly say that Riley died of a drug overdose on a podcast? Get a fucking grip, you look like a clown whining about clickbait; this is a music website/blog which by definition relies on our clicks for support, and a lot of around here loved Power Trip. If you hate it here so much then simply stop visiting.
or, maybe, knowing the kind of person Riley was, he'd want people to know what happened to him if it could help save even just one life.
agree 100%. Tell you what, I see Ben and I immediately think of Chelsea. She could have slayed the verse with her high register and then just BELTED the chorus. I shiver just thinking about it.
she really is. She's used all sorts of wild tunings throughout her career, and her tone on "Only Everything" is just 90's perfection.
Don't know if she'll see this, but if so: Juliana, I had a correspondence with Gary Smith at Fort Apache in the mid to late 90s. You guys sent me posters to throw up on light poles in my college town and other goodies including a signed press shot which I still have framed. I just wanted to say thanks for being such a big part of my life and one of the main reasons I picked up a guitar as a kid.
Nate, dude, KILLER write up. I was in college when this came out, and I was friends with an awesome guy who spun hip hop on our college radio station. My Radiohead fandom was on full display, and he gave me this CD and said "listen to it, you'll love it. It's rap Kid A."

beautiful rendition, glad to see Deftones continue to get some much overdue love and respect
Yup yup, I remember that period vividly. I was 14 when Kurt died, and I remember my displeasure at the time that Pearl Jam had overtaken them at the alter of rock gods. Those sales for Vs were MASSIVE, and it was clear In Utero was a rejection of sorts to what was expected.
Oh man, so true I actually remember that. But you know what? I think with the changing social climate MAYBE he'd have have turned, particularly with regard to Walmart's sales of guns. Now, I realize that they've cut back, but it's nice (for me at least) to imagine Kurt as an old punk rock folk hero unwilling to compromise his integrity. Like Ian MacKaye. What the fuck do I know though.
I often wonder what Kurt would be like if he was still alive. I have it in my head that if he had recorded another Nirvana album it would have been in the vein of "Automatic for the People", or maybe inspired by their Unplugged performance. But one thing I'm certain of is that Kurt wouldn't have wanted his shit sold at Walmart.
I was on a bender of this album last year and then it suddenly disappeared from Amazon streaming. Why. Why does this happen.
