I just read the lyrics to Sex on Fire for the first time an hour ago and I'm not sure this is much worse than that. I mean, it's worse. Just not by very much.
A tiny part of me hoped this article would have an album announcement in it but it's all fine really I'm just excited for this band to be like THE band of note soon.
So is this the part where I tell everyone that the person I've been dating for like five and a half months just got the top comment of the week? Because I'm very proud of them. Have a great weekend, everyone.
Torres is one of those artists I like more theoretically and specific songs by ("Sprinter," "Helen in the Woods") than whole albums, though I would never say I don't like her. Maybe this will be the one that converts me to full fandom? I hope Billie's album is good too.
Well, that and this band already had an (excellent, as is typical of their work) album out this year.
Those two immediately leapt to mind when I listened to this. Definitely not gonna mind this energy from their future releases.
I think this might be my favorite song of theirs. Kind of hope it means an album is coming.
My god, this album is really gonna be special huh
Frances Forever is quickly becoming one of my favorite indie pop acts.
From one orange drink to another: nice
Hey so did you miss the part where she said "right now" and how Crying hasn't released anything since like 2016 or are you just conveniently ignoring it to try to flex how you know more and, actually, this is bad journalism somehow? Also as someone who listens to great heaping gobs of emo, this doesn't even sound THAT much like the stuff you mentioned. It's doing a lot of different things and 100 gecs is as legitimate a comparison point for their many different sounds as Crying or shadynasty (RIP) would have been.
Holy fucking shit, she's been through hell and back. Nothing but love to her and I hope she is able to continue recovering.
Been waiting for this for a while. T3H brings the quality yet again!
Don't wanna be the pronoun policing person but Stevie uses they/them pronouns.
And now to scream about how much I love Haru Nemuri and how I want a US label to sign her so I don't have to pay $70 to get Haru to Shira on vinyl. New album this year would be fabulous
Yes, I've been waiting for new Rat Tally for some time! Fingers crossed for a new LP this year. 🤞
I would like to acknowledge that today is a sacred day because y'all finally acknowledged Beach Bunny after me and jackunderscore hounded you about it for years!
Their LP last year was 25 minutes and fucking perfect.
Hospital Bracelet's LP dropped at midnight and it's Very, Very Good if you like emo.
Ever see his comments on Liz Phair? That told me everything I needed to know about who he is as a person. His comments on how power pop as a genre is "for pussies" also didn't endear me to him. More than the fact that he's gross, I just don't really like his production on Rid of Me.
Kinda bummed that it's only 7 tracks but I'm really hyped for a full band version of "Sour OG RPG." Great emo band, they're gonna do great things.
First Julien, now The Sonder Bombs? 2021 is off to a good start musically at least
I like Claud. Man, some of y'all have to be miserable about everything.
Okay I'm gonna be nicer about Sugar Ray forever now unless Mark McGrath does something dumb to make me not want to do that.
Okay, Stereogum Literary Society, since we're talking about something named after a Nobel Prize-winning author, how do we feel about this article saying that Louise Glück should have rejected it in part based on the author of this book allegedly being a war crimes denialist later in his career? https://theintercept.com/2020/10/07/2020-winner-nobel-prize-literature-boycott/ Personally I'm... Mixed. The part where the writer of the article says "well sure a million dollars is a lot of money but she could possibly have made even MORE money for rejecting the prize" is kind of ridiculous? Anyway this song is really good but I'm emo so of course I like it.
Counterpoint: there's not enough bands like this, IMHO. Sincerely, A soda in their late twenties.
He could have been more clear. And not sounded like the kind of people who think any pushback against racism is "sjw puritanism."
Why would you say you have a problem with a band telling you to be nice to immigrants? I mean, I know it's because racism, but imagine posting that publicly and being like "am I out of touch? No, it's [popular English rock band IDLES] who are wrong."
