It has never been more clear that "people," in fact, do not have "the power." But thanks, millionaire celebs.

Sweet. It can't get here soon enough to wash away the bad taste of his awful Netflix special.

Or, maybe just don't cover him? Covering him just in order to clown him says more about them than Van.

Well this is welcome and unexpected. Loop are one of those interesting cases of 2nd tier 90's bands that don't quite slot easily into a pure shoegaze, noise, pop, or rock genre. Maybe a bit similar to Swervedriver in that regard. So they probably don't get their due compared to the Slowdives, Rides, MBVs of the world (but, let's face it, those are much better). But nonetheless, new Loop is a good thing.

You may be right. I think she's good, maybe even great. But the unique praise she gets as some sort of amazing generational songwriter has always seemed a bit too elevated. She surely benefits from her associations with Hollywood pallies. There are probably a dozen singer songwriters in her class from her generation as good. Give me someone with a unique voice and some thorniness like Kirsten Hirsch over her easy listening AOR.

Good for them. But this is really an award for the Watchmen zeitgeist. It will sweep all the main Emmy categories on Sunday. Whoever was plugged into scoring it was always going to win.

She's alright but this appearance does not do much to erase the "industry plant" tag on her. It mostly reveals how much work it took to make her album sound as decent as it does.

Yeah, darling is a good word. Not saying he's not deserving of some remembrance, but how many times do we need to go to that well. The list of others who have passed who deserve a little more celebration is long. Roky is a good example. Easily more important than DJ musically from 13th floor elevators to work with Okkervil River. Elliott Smith also comes to mind. You can actually hear the influence of his sound in many contemporary artists.

DJ seems to get a disproportionately large amount of tribute relative to his music output. Is it more about his battling mental illness or celebrating his outsider artist status? Do people actually listen to him, or tributes by others to him, today?

So with all this, whatever it is, does anyone actually see any money from it? Or is it just the latest way musicians are exploited?

Yoshimi is great of course but when's the last time you listened to it front to back? Parts of it have not aged very well. American Head is mostly low key, with better modern production and it holds together like a cohesive album for the first time in a long time for them.

I'm just against any 100% "my way is the right way, the only way" thinking. If that is "reactionary", so be it. The Left has dug in and turned into religious zealots over any questioning of their stances--even when there is agreement over the broader points. And this is in large part why Trump is going to win again.

You make it sound like this is all she is known for. She's hardly "spewing". A divine belief in the infallibility of science doesn't make it so. Everything is percentages and odds. Your beliefs may get some other random poor bastard killed.

That list of collabs is just insane. (The only way I'd even bother listen to Elton today is in a song by Damon.) This Fat Bob track is nice if a bit lowkey following the run of pure fire singles from Song Machine. But what ever happened to that Tame Impala collab that was teased a while back...?

This clown = Greta = Divisive voices preaching to their own fanbases, changing zero new minds. P.S. - can we stop with the "stays" in place of "continues". I know language doesn't mean anything anymore and we're just making shit up, but this one really bugs.

September 3, 2020 on ANOHNI – “R.N.C. 2020″
When I see pieces like this - a fringe media personality whose fanbase is so obviously at one extreme end of the political spectrum - giving an obvious negative take on the latest divisive event - I often wonder for who exactly is their message. Is there a single person alive that cares what this person thinks (or who even knows who they are) that does not already feel this way about the RNC? The very definition of preaching to the choir. This does not add a single new vote to the Biden column.
