And I know I did damage
'Cause the look in your eyes is killing me
I guess you knew of that advantage
'Cause you could blame me for everything
And I don't know how I'ma manage
If one day, you just up and leave
If y'all know her "Boomerang", you know she doesn't give a shit anyway. Throw this in your blunt and smoke it:
I don't really care about what they say
I'm a come back like a boomerang
Won't let the haters get their way
I'm a come back like a boomerang
Ooh ooh whoa ah
Ooh ooh whoa ah
Ooh ooh whoa ah
I'm a come back like a boomerang
Ooh ooh whoa ah
Ooh ooh whoa ah
Ooh ooh whoa ah
I'm a I'm a come back
They can keep talking their talk
But I'm a keep walking my walk
And I won't hear a sou-ound
Yeah they're just trying to see
If they can get the best of me
Well not this time aro-ound
Cheesy or poppy or SM just didn't think the band could pull off the vibe like he wanted. "Major Leagues" felt like it's almost the end for Pavement, like he was signaling that he's ready for the majors but his band was still stuck in the minors.
It's been interesting for me as a challenge to our assumptions that an "outsider" "indie" artist whose music doesn't sound "conservative" by any means holds values he claims are conservative and very different from what the majority of his audience holds. It could be anecdotal or of course an anomaly but it feels easier to go in reverse and say there are, for example, more left-leaning artists in the country music and classical music spaces than there are righties in the modern "indie rock/pop" spaces. Then again, the definitions of "conservative" and "progressive" have been constantly evolving; Trump has owned casinos, married someone who's done porn, etc. Also, quote marks.
I'm sure he wanted to call it "I don't give a shit, pay me. I mean, I shill garbage McDonalds food to my fans." but it was too long.
Also, what exactly is his "signature aesthetic and creative narrative" outside of mediocre music, terrible Halloween costumes, and posing with his head down in photos?
