I'm late to the party as per, but damn if this ain't a 10, that angel olsen/roy orbison falsetto gets me every time
Also, funky as shiot song
I have no idea why I even know what the America's cup is, let alone how a sailing trophy could relate to West Aus gentrification, but growing up an Australian in an American world is pretty odd sometimes I guess
Please is so good, but I'm a bit confused by the write up. Why does everyone think Wildest Moments is the best Jessie Ware song when Remember Where You Are is right there?
This article is three days old so maybe nobody will ever see this comment, but this is really cool and I hope this band keeps making songs like this
Not looking to be a dick here but it's *Sampa the Great, really looking forward to hearing what she put together with this all-timer
This is sick, major key anger is the BEST
I was at one of those shows in 2019 where she played this, she did it as an encore after night shift and I specifically remember the lyric about walking a mile in the wrong direction getting an audible gasp from the crowd. I also remember patrolling the internet over the next few days trying to find a bootleg of it and being happy but disappointed that I couldn't find it anywhere. I'm so glad it's as good as I thought it was
New York has Devon sounding his most Michael Stipe-y
This is good! Something to Say To You was way underrated last year and I like this song's Soccer Mommyesque instrumental
Been losing a lot pioneers lately and it really sucks, RIP to an OG
More groover than mover but I really like it
Disclaimer: I don't actually know if the charges against Bruce fuggin Springsteen are dodgy
Imagine being the New Jersey cop that wrote up Bruce fuggin Springsteen on dodgy charges
Forgot how good Vince is at twitter
This is such a rush of a song, love it
Also dang, Sun June is out this week! They're great but I completely forgot about this album! Beans was right, these long rollouts are getting out of hand
The Femi and Made Kuti albums are the two parts of a double album called Legacy+ and were made with longtime Fela producer Sodi Marciszewer, if you're into hectic big horn, bass and drum lines you can't do better
I've been wondering about this as well, but I guess I kind of like it sometimes? I think it takes away from the album feeling like as big an event as possible but in this instance I'm glad I've had more time to let the songs marinate (especially Tried to Tell You)
Fucking hell, what a horrible thing to happen. RIP to a legend and love to her family, close ones and fans
This is cool but is that the sixpence none the richer riff at the start?
Also damn, can't wait for that track with Ric Wilson, in my head they already work so well together
This is very fun
Nah that's dead on, great call
Sounds exactly like what someone causing internet outages in the Philippines would say
Don't know if it qualifies as pop culture, but I do know frenemies was first used by a gossip writer to describe the relationship between USA + Soviets at the height of the Cold War. So there. That's a useless thing you know now.
Katie Dey, Westerman, AG Cook, Jenny Hval Jaakko Calevi remixing Perfume Genius? https://media.giphy.com/media/g0ErvnyVsp7nJyfmxF/giphy.gif
That really moves.
This song is nice. There's always way more people in this band than I remember there being.
Made himself a hero and a villain at the same time is great too
Also I Can't Wait by Nu Shooz is a banger
That tape recording from 1986 is hilarious
Weather Station season is going to be so good
Ric Wilson way underrated
I'm really looking forward to this album, 80 days of rain has definitely been one of my most played songs since it came out
Also this was the first song that got me into john prine, this is a weird collection of musicians that are individually significant to me in pretty different ways, kinda loved it even before i heard it just on that basis alone, pretty cool
Goddamn, I was at that thing when they rode that ferris wheel, they both played hard but fair on the day and in the end footy was the real winner
