How about let’s not free Larry Hoover and just say we did?
Poptimism was always bullshit. Pop stars don’t need real estate on indie music blogs, they receive enough fanfare everywhere else. Liking real music that wasn’t created by a boardroom in a corporate office somewhere doesn’t make you a hipster snob btw. It just means you have taste.
So much idiocy to unpack here... on second thought, I think I'll just let you take your horse dewormer in peace.
Who tf shoots a man buying cookies? Goddamn I hate this country.
Worst day for emo music since the day Martin Shkreli was photographed wearing a Brand New shirt.
I was never able to take Drake seriously as a rapper because I was so used to him being a character on Degrassi. I don’t feel like I missed much.
Yes, I've taken many a deep dive into the lore surrounding Andrew W.K. I'm not sure I buy the multiple actors theory. All kinda looks like the same dude to me. Also, the Steev Mike thing feels like a weird conspiracy he created just to spice things up. But who knows.
Who cancels their whole tour for a bit of extra buzz? From a financial standpoint, that’s nonsensical. Not to mention, as I said, he got no buzz. It’s literally a few thousand people who even noticed, most of whom are fans. His store is also closed (website gone) so he really has no way to make money at this point. Looks to me like more of an early retirement or mental breakdown, if anything.
Speaking of Andrew WK, I find it odd that virtually no music blogs have commented on the fact that the dude has completely disappeared. He deleted all his socials, his website, and cancelled his whole tour with zero explanation. Some people thought maybe it was a publicity stunt but he’s gained zero publicity. Strange stuff.
Movie idea: Ice Cube and Emilio Estevez in a hijinks-filled race against time to get to the nearest farm supply store one hour away to get the last box of horse dewormer. Eric Clapton can contribute a bluesy rollicking soundtrack.
Don't worry, Travis Scott is paying for.. uhh... *checks official statement* ...one month of therapy for those in attendance as well as funeral costs. How generous...
I’m still shocked that this many people would gather together during a pandemic in the first place.
Oh cool, so you're not just an asshole but also a Trump supporter. You sound like someone who really has a lot of friends and definitely doesn't live in your mom's basement.
The firsthand accounts I've read are horrifying and remind me of an experience I had seeing NIN at Lollapalooza over a decade ago. I was about three or four rows away from the stage and when the band went on, there was a huge surge. I felt the air instantly squeezed out of me and it truly did feel like a drowning sensation. It put me into fight or flight mode and the adrenaline was so overwhelming, as I was being crushed between strangers and lifted off the ground. Luckily I had the presence of mind to tell the huge dude next to me I needed to crowd surf out. He lifted me up and I sailed out of there. After that, I refused to get that close to the stage at any festival. It’s a claustrophobia that nobody should have to experience.
Slow Coda. That is all.
Jay-Z is my favorite rock & roll artist.
His full name is definitely the most Irish thing I've ever heard.
Ok but how many years has it been since Kanye stole Avril 14th, compressed the shit out of it, and used it in one of his own songs without giving credit?
I'll never understand how these guys can write so many songs without ever repeating themselves. Most prolific band ever.
Did he do the Nazi salute too? I guess that Shreks out.
This is especially true on their last album, Everybody Loves A Happy Ending. Certain songs were giving me huge Ween vibes. Love both bands so it’s a win-win.
I guess with no more Van Halen around to fall back on every few years, there's really no point to staying busy. I'd retire too if I had his bank account.
Reminds me of that great bit of dialogue from Samurai Cop... Nurse: "Have you been circumcised?" Joe Marshall: "Yeah I have, why?" Nurse: "Your doctor must have cut a large portion off." Joe Marshall: "No uh... he was a... he was a good doctor."
"I think a heavily modified version of capitalism that values human well-being is essential. Like motherhood should be a compensated duty etc etc.” Should we tell her about Bernie Sanders or no?
You make a... terrible point! Thank you for contributing to the discussion.
All I gotta say is good luck selling band tees with that name.
Regardless of what you think of David Byrne's music, his live show is one of the most impressive things you will see. I had the privilege of catching a show back when he was on tour a few years ago and it was fantastic. Very glad it was captured on film.
So you're telling me the video for "Bound 2" was a lie all along? Damn.
In fact, this is really the only context in which this song should be played.
Could this possibly be because his approach to rock music resembles Good Charlotte at their corniest?
Countdown until Kanye's idiotic defenders see this and downvote you (and me) into oblivion.
Still a mindfuck to think that this is the same man behind "I Believe I Can Fly," a song so popular and wholesome that my elementary school class was made to sing it together for a performance back in the mid-'90s.
Not sure why the downvotes. DFA1979 is pretty misogynistic and happen to be friends with Gavin McInnes. As if that wasn't bad enough, this Journey cover is downright abysmal.
