This is not a new story. Sinead has mentioned this very encounter with Prince a number of times in the past, and it seems to ne clickbait now that she is releasing these memoirs. He never liked her cover of the song, despises anyone covering his songs. This story could be true or embellishment. Either way, they hated each other. The part about her refusing to eat soup still makes chuckle. So random.

I honestly don't get the Foo Fighter thing. These are supposed to be artists who are transcendent, survived through decades while continuing to redefine themselves, influence others and impact their genre. I see nothing in that band that represents any of that.
At least he can still play his cassettes on his Technics dual cassette deck player. Advantage deadhead.
Prob in the minority here...I really want to like these guys. They check all the boxes and I do love their earlier albums, but to me, these singles just don't go anywhere, they just seem to stay on a constant latitude. Yeah, they're epic, and the crashing cymbals and the steely guitars that fill songs like squid ink in water and on and on...its all there. Maybe its that theres just no hook, or they are overworking the tracks in production, I dunno. Feels like empty calories more times than not.
So that's what Happier than Ever' looks like according to her? based on that album cover, I'd hate to see her sadder than ever.
This is fun! Almost smell a little MGMT in it. These guys tend to be be a little melodramatic to me with songs that peel off like a Spielberg film that can't fix its third act...this ones a little more direct and to the point.

This is awful. I fucking love it.

Never give a child named X Æ A-Xii a white magic marker.
If I had to listen to Bermuda Highway on a continuous loop, I would not be upset.
I'm only in on this if it doubles as a vocoder
When I read the Yorn article last week I these guys immediately popped into my head. Great album. Great show too....ah the good ole days at Toads Place.
Waitresses don't wear white dresses. That song is a lie.
Wow, twenty years...(flips through phone to find ex girlfriend from 2001)
Not that I defend, well maybe I am, who knows, but if I'm an indie artist thats gained some popularity during one of the worst times in America for over a year, I'm doubling down on as much as I can...people complaining there's 'too much Pheobe' clearly forget the Covid has raked artists over broken glass for the past 365 days. Take every fucking piece you can to keep yourself out there, girl...
This is great but for some reason it makes me want new Let's East Grandma.
Ahhh, the good ole days. https://media.giphy.com/media/DXFzuOpPXvUiI/giphy.gif
Guy-Manuel is always working on something, or maybe it was Bragalter, I dunno....either way, one of them was lazy AF. Prob part of the reason they are no mas.
I think I'll miss the whole Daft Punk 'thing' and mystery that always went along with them more than the actual music...the albums will always be there. It was their schtick that was so revolutionary and most captivating.
That pic looks like a movie poster for a Will Ferrell movie.
Perfectionism is hardly the word to describe here...its straight up neurosis.
The self absorption level with these two camps may hit Defcon 1 https://media.giphy.com/media/2sj0zar9vTpBVQx0VQ/giphy.gif
These are exactly the kind of things I want to read as I embark into 2021.
The HBO doc was awesome. Not many bands can evolve the way the Bee Gees did. Total redefinition with success through each decade for 30 years.
Its In The Way that You Us It??? Thats your stand with Clapton? Holy shit, I'm out. Dude, did you just google Clapton and hit Spotify?
See this is problem nowadays with Stereogum...theres very little respect for those that blazed the trail going on here. Its insane to think a website that promotes music (in all forms) would allow this certain community to shit on someone like Clapton. I mean, this is a guy who championed the bridge between blues and rock, he defined what Robert Johnson, Muddy Waters, Buddy Guy, Albert King and so many built to create and allow you the freedom to have to the shitty music you listen today. I'm all for the child in you that wants to debate your argument, but you have zero cred in doing so and you bring no facts just hate. You'd rather sit at home probably angry at life and the fact you've wasted it, but you're just a fool, and someone who probably shouldn't be wasting your time on a website whose only design is to celebrate music and all those who built it. So go back to your hole of a room, stoke your dick wishing you had that girl you lost and forget about doing what this site is built to do, celebrating and debating music with facts, not just lobbing in veiled BS with zero credibility.
Whats so damn cute about this dipshit, ignorant comment is that it appears to be coming from a Steely Dan fan, which I just find so pretentiously ironic.
Agree with the ridiculous cause or not, Clapton is God. If The Yardbirds, Cream, Slowhand, Bluesbreaks, Derek Dominoes, or any 70's solo album are a nut soaked towel, then wipe that shit all over me.
These statements and tweets continue to prove one thing over and over again....these people are not very bright.
What could possibly be here to hate? You don't like the bands so that makes you want to dislike it? This is whats wrong with this country....moronic personal internet opinion shades a pretty cool story about kids growing up with rock star fathers and finding a way to each other to have fun creating something.
I haven't been able to stop listening to this for three days now. Drummer from Toro Y Moi I think, plus the obvious Air vibe. Great stuff.

No shit...last thing I'll debate is a Stones vs Barbara fucking Streisand output. Where are we Stereogum?
