That bottom 5 really should have been switched around. Hot takes shouldn’t get more downvoted than misogynistic and homophobic content. I mean you were right in the middle so... congratulations?
Holy hell I need that t shirt!
I’d been dreading this announcement. Even in his final months his optimism and kindness shone through in everything he did. Such sad news.
I’ve started to do this in the last few days. It’s really tough here at the moment, and just planning for a future out of lockdown really seems hard to do and I’m interested to see how that shapes this album.
I remember reading this little nugget in their end of year single review of Ignition in 2003 and thought it was fucking gross then: “Michael Jackson take note: R. Kelly's plan for diverting public attention away from his buggery is apparently to write hit after irresistible hit.”
I think I was late to them because on paper it just doesn’t seem like something I would be that into, but I’m really digging it, and man, when they unleash that guitar, damn.
I didn’t grab me immediately like it has other commenters around here, but I can see it growing on me.
I took a few days off work this week and caught up on a few things that slipped under my radar: Milatarie Gun: All Roads Lead to the Gun I and II SLOTHRUST: Parallel Timeline Wild Pink: A Billion Little Lights And some old favourites: Girls: Album Super Furry Animals: Radiator The Wrens: Meadowlands
“: The Most Consequential Release Date In Alt-Rock Was 20 Years Ago Today”
“My wife, Susie, has a hummingbird shyness. In social situations she displays herself for a magical, weightless moment then darts away.” Gorgeous.
Center of (My) Universe.
Oh man, she’s the best.
Wait until you hear what I did that’s caused Melbourne to completely shut down today.
I second all of these (except Tyler and Turnstile. Still need to hear them). The Cassandra Jenkins album is a real surprise for me this year and Lightning Bug of course.
I think I broke my foot at work trying to skate a chair while listening to Andrew W.K’s ‘It’s Time to Party’ in the tea room this week.
Funny and horrible... kind of like Morrissey’s solo career lately waheyyyyyy!
I thought that was Peter Andre for a second.
The opening seconds of White Horses when the vocals kick in: I actually gasped. This band are so thoroughly in control of their craft in a way that doesn’t feel laboured. At this rate I can’t wait to see the music they’re putting out in twenty years time.
I had an entire ‘Number Ones’ style essay ready for this article, but really all you need to know is that ‘Vomit’ is the one song I can honestly say has saved me from a very dark period in my life. As corny as it sounds this song really does make me believe in the power of music.
It doesn’t come out here in Australia for another few weeks, but I’m getting ready to party.
Well luckily for them it got heavy play at Guantanamo Bay in the following decade (and in person as well!). I know the bass player was pretty thrilled at the time. Fuck Drowning Pool.
Amyl and the Sniffers. Yeah, I fucking said it.
I decided to Howse this bastard and I cannot wait until Friday. I love this fucking band.
Old mate on the right is definitely channeling some ‘Devendra Banhart joins the New Radicals’ vibes.
Doing self critiques now are we?
I just assumed Todd Haynes was killing time before he made White Noise into a film.
About 20 seconds before I put my hands over my ears and ran out of the room screaming ‘la, la, la’
I think I accidentally heard the first WOD single yesterday but I’m not sure. Does that mean I can still Howse this thing?
